It’s not only a great way to boost your confidence as an actor, it’ll also give you the opportunity to meet and work with film and tv industry professionals such as Steve North (Dr Who, Holby City, Eastenders, War Horse), David Schaal (The Inbetweeners), Shobu Kapoor (Eastenders, Citizen Khan) and film directors such as Adam Morse, whose latest feature film ‘Lucid’ stars Billy Zane from Titanic. Plus you’ll meet drama and acting students like yourself who share your passion for performing.

Being able to learn and test your acting abilities amongst people who are there for the same reasons as you and share the same passion for acting is essential to developing your acting skills.

Our one-day acting workshop gives you the freedom to be as creative as you please whilst doing something you are passionate about.

The acting workshops we currently offer are:

Improvisation

Cold Reading

Vocal Techniques

Self-tape Recording

Audition Techniques

Stage Combat

You may already be a signed working actor or you may have completed The Reel Scene Screen Acting Year Course, but that doesn’t mean that you will then be set for life as an actor, ready for any acting audition that comes your way. The reality is that you need to keep your acting skills sharp, and you are expected to be ready for anything that your agent applies for, on your behalf.

You can never stop learning as an actor and part of the reason actors secure fewer and fewer roles is due to the lack of ongoing acting training. By engaging in acting workshops you are keeping acting at the front of your mind, you are reacting to lines as a character and not as yourself and you are comfortable with taking direction.

Now you may have no acting experience at all but don’t let that scare you, our acting workshops are tailored to each individual’s needs as well as providing new acting students with a “taster” sessions. As well as testing veteran actors we also aim to introduce new ones into the world of acting.

You may be unsure whether acting is for you or you may even be interested in a drama school but be unsure about yourself. The Reel Scene is here to teach you and help develop your confidence levels so that you can walk out of our acting workshop prouder and surer of your own skills. We want each actor to develop at their own pace, so we respect whatever pace you choose to go at.

Each acting workshop covers a different acting technique, so if your improv skills are on point but you feel like you need to work on your self-tape skills then just choose the workshop that’s right for you.

What we offer

Each acting workshop covers a different acting technique, so if your improv skills are on point but you feel like you need to work on your self-tape skills then just choose the workshop that’s right for you.

Improvisation

Improvisation is being able to create or perform in the moment without any preparation. This is great for actors who want to build their confidence.

Vocal Techniques

Vocal ability is a desired acting technique for both theatre and screen acting. Being able to control how you project your voice is extremely important when controlling a room or set with your presence. We also look at accents – being able to speak with an American accent can be the deciding factor when auditioning for US shows and films.

Audition Techniques

A great audition is key to securing the big role you want. Having the right attitude, preparation and acting technique can make you stand out from the rest and that is exactly what we’ll teach you.

Cold Reading

When you are given a script with little or no time in advance to rehearse, you will have to do a cold reading. This is often something that frightens actors but having the right tips and acting techniques to focus on can make a world of difference.

Self-tape Recording

Self-tapes are becoming more and more common. They are another form of an audition used by casting directors, where you use a recording device to film your audition rather than doing it face to face. Being able to understand what the directors are looking for in your self-tape is crucial to being successful, and we can give you that insight.

Stage Combat

Stage combat is an underrated acting skill that many actors don’t have but we are lucky enough to have professional working stage combat actors teach our stage combat acting workshop so you get first-hand coaching with all the tips and tricks that they have. This could open up the doors to being cast as The Rock’s body double or star in the next Marvel thriller.
