Start your acting career with an acting taster workshop!
Becoming a student at an acting school is a big commitment, both financially and in terms of time. And you want to be sure that the people you’ll be learning from are the best, that they work in the industry, and that they can help you achieve your goal of becoming a hireable, working actor.
That’s where our taster workshops come in. You’ll meet the Reel Scene team and work with us and our coaches on acting exercises that will give you an idea of how we work with our students. They’ll also give us an idea of your strengths and talent.
After the class, we’ll answer your questions about the Reel Scene, our courses, and what it takes to work as an actor in the industry. Our team work not only as actors and coaches but also run a talent agency RS Talent, so we know what casting directors are looking for. Many of our students are cast, and almost all of our graduates have agent representation.
After we’ve seen you perform and had a chance to meet you, we’ll be able to advise you on next steps, and the training we think you need. You’ll be able to schedule a one-to-one career advice session with us, or investigate our other courses, classes and workshop.
But it all starts here, with a taste of The Reel Scene!

The workshop costs £49, payable in advance.
A good agent will only sign an actor once they’ve had a chance to see them work, to see how they work with other actors and crew, and have reviewed their showreel and headshots. Agents from RS Talent regularly attend workshops and classes (we are always looking for new talent) and may recommend further training if you show promise. That’s why it’s great to come to these workshops, meet people, make friends and make yourself known! Most of our graduates leave our courses and gain representation (98% in 2019).
As well as the team from the Reel Scene and talent agency RS Talent, we bring in special guests to run each of the workshops. The choice of guest will depend on their availability or work commitments. In many cases, we work with David Schaal (Jay’s Dad on The Inbetweeners, Glyn from The Office, and a veteran actor from many other shows) or Steve North (Doctor Who, Holby City, Eastenders, London’s Burning). All of our coaches actually work in the industry. You can see our full list of coaches on the coaches page.
We’ll post course dates and times here. Workshops are held at our studio in Pimlico, London.
All information will be provided before your course starts, e.g a costume for your shoot, appropriate clothing for your headshots and showcase, pad, pen, printed scripts. We recommend wearing loose-fitting clothing. Bring a bottle of water!
The workshop costs £49, payable in advance.
We welcome actors of all ages and levels of experience! If you’re under 16, you’ll need the approval of your parent or guardian, but we welcome parents to come along and watch the classes. Some of our courses may require you to be 18 or older (such as The Event) for example, we hold our showcase in theatres and we have hired pubs for location shoots where alcohol may be served.
A taster workshop is a gentle and fun introduction to acting! Under the guidance of a professional, working industry actor like David Schaal from The Inbetweeners or Steve North from Doctor Who, you’ll go through some warmup exercises and improv and then be given a scene to develop and perform with your classmates. We’ll give you feedback, answer your questions about acting and the industry, and you’ll get to meet and talk to agents from RS Talent and the Reel Scene team!
