Lucas Young is a British editor, actor and director whose career spans broadcast television, visual effects and independent film. After training as a director in New Zealand in the mid-1990s, he worked for Television New Zealand and began acting with a role in Xena: Warrior Princess. His technical path ran in parallel with his creative one: he later joined Weta Digital in Wellington, contributing to the visual effects pipeline on The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, an experience that anchored his understanding of post-production, visual storytelling and large-scale filmmaking.

After returning to Europe, Lucas refocused on acting and narrative filmmaking, training extensively at The Reel Scene in London, including the Screen Acting Year Course and multiple masterclasses. He went on to appear in projects such as the Belgian short film Res Cogitans and the award-nominated short Nobody Sees, for which he received a Best Actor nomination at the Gold Movie Awards. He also appears in the feature film All Those Things alongside Reel Scene coach Steve North. Alongside his on-screen work, Lucas became part of the Reel Scene team, writing, directing, shooting and editing scenes for students and shaping the school’s digital and post-production workflows, bringing a rare blend of actor’s instinct and editor’s precision into the training environment.
