What Makes Us Different  – Let Us Tell You!

We’re not a traditional drama school. We don't believe in classroom-only teachers at drama school or Universities who have never been on set or auditioned, or worked on productions pre or post in film making.  Our students learn from professionals who are actively casting, producing, acting, and directing today.

We’ve produced over 25 short films through this course, all accepted into major film festivals and our features have screened and been nominated at festivals including Cannes, Tribeca, Berlin, Edinburgh, Austin, Boston, Mexico, Brazil, and more. Many are award-winning and have been screened at BAFTA and Oscar-qualifying festivals.

Our actors have shared the screen with stars like Gal Gadot, Rob Sheehan,  Russell Tovey, Daniel Mays and Asa Butterfield. They’ve landed roles in TV shows, commercials, and feature films thanks to RS Talent, our in-house agency.

Our course is created by industry professionals—producers, actors, casting directors, and agents (review the team's IMDb, including Alex Fidelski with a slate of over 25 films!)—who know what you need to kick-start a career in acting.

Unlike other programmes, you’ll work with a variety of coaches who specialise in different genres and areas, reflecting real-life industry experiences. You won't just learn from top professionals; you'll be networking with them, gaining industry exposure.

Our past students have landed roles in BBC, Disney +, paramount, Netflix shows, films, and commercials directly through connections made on the course (and with RS Talent).

We ensure our training stays current and relevant by bringing in a mixture of guest tutors who are actively working in the industry, sharing the latest insights. Our tutors include BAFTA-winning film directors, current TV directors on Coronation Street and Emmerdale, and well-known actor-directors such as David Schaal (The Office, The Inbetweeners), Kevin McNally (Pirates of the Caribbean), and Jason Barnett (Bridgerton).

Networking is a key focus – students attend networking nights, industry screenings, private events, and red carpet premieres. Alumni have been photographed on the red carpet at major events like Avatar, Transformers, Gladiator 2, Top Gun: Maverick, Mission Impossible, Smile 2, and more.

We also attend prestigious film festivals. The Reel Scene team regularly attends Cannes, where Alex Fidelski (our course director and producer) networks, and promotes our films. Our alumni also attend and network at these events and exclusive afterparties with The Reel Scene.

We are also unique in running our own in-house acting agency – RS Talent.
Our actors frequently gain representation during or after the course, and many secure work in film, television, and commercials while training in shows like Disney + ‘Suspect’, BBC dramas, coronation street, BBC Doctors, Paramount, Netlfix series, and many more. (See our successes)

And on top of that – we have our own production company.
We cast directly from our training pool (alumni). In feature films like The Bystanders and It’s the Blackness, over 85% of the cast were Reel Scene-trained actors working alongside known actors like Rob Sheehan, Asa Butterfield, Kevin McNally etc…. Our other productions include casting-  To A Cinder, Amaranthine, and several new feature films in development have provided opportunities for our students. Thanks to our tutors’ industry involvement, students also gain access to external projects – working on films directed by Charles Belleville, Gary Grant, Kevin McNally, and David Schaal.

Our alumni filmmakers also cast from within – Josh Witcher’s (reel Scene year course alumni) Cast and produced his feature Film Beneath the Silence, starring Geoff Bell (Guy Ritchie’s Mob Land), features multiple Reel Scene actors in co-lead and supporting roles.

Our graduates leave with a profound understanding of the business side of the acting industry they aspire to join.

Networking & Industry Exposure
We’re big on networking—you’ll have invites to festivals, screenings, premieres (premieres are quite frequent but we cannot guarantee number of tickets or invites) , and exclusive networking nights. Your journey includes a year-long membership to The Actors’ Gym, our online platform where you’ll find live voice/accent lessons, scene study sessions, and self-tape challenges with professional feedback and in your quarterly 1-2-1’s discuss your self tape feedback. This is your chance to connect with industry experts, including Hollywood casting directors known for casting iconic films like Walk the Line and Logan. Q&A with famous actors such as Asa Butterfield. It’s a great way to develop your skills and be SEEN!

Months 1-3: Building Your Foundation  

Work closely with a director/actor to master the fundamentals of screen acting, including on-set terminology, camera confidence, and essential techniques like Meisner, Chekhov, and Stanislavski. Begin building your showreel, receive professional headshots, and develop your portfolio.  

- Month 1:  

  - Friday: Focus on improvisation, laying the groundwork for spontaneity and creativity in acting.  

  - Saturday: Delve into the foundations of screen acting, covering the technical aspects to help you understand what happens on set. Learn how to be prepared and confident in front of the camera, while being introduced to essential acting techniques and working on your scene/character.  

  - Sunday: Perform and film your first scene, putting what you've learned into practice.  

  Online Classes:  

  - Class 1: In-depth coverage of screen acting techniques with a review of scenes shot during the weekend.  

  - Class 2: Scene work with a focus on developing intentions and actioning.  

  Actors' Gym: Participate in two self-tape challenges, voice classes, scene study drop-ins, and a guest Q&A.  

- Month 2:  

  - Friday: Delve deeper into acting techniques, with a specific focus on Meisner training.  

  - Saturday: Explore character objectives, intentions, and given circumstances. Adapt these elements for screen acting while working on your scene and character. Receive professional headshots overseen by a producer, casting director, or agent who will explain what makes a great headshot. Our headshots have proven to land actors work through our agency!  

  - Sunday: "Lights, camera, action" day—shoot scenes while continuing with the headshot shoot.  

  Online Classes:  

  - Class 1: Review of the scenes filmed and a deeper dive into Meisner techniques.  

  - Class 2: Scene work preparing for the next month, focusing on character development.  

  Actors' Gym: New self-tape challenges, scene study drop-ins, and guest Q&A sessions.  

- Month 3:  

  - Friday: Continue Meisner training, deepening your understanding of the technique.  

  - Saturday: Devise your own showreel scene, putting what you have learned in months 1-2 to the test. Create your own character and story, and enjoy the filmmaking process.

  - Sunday: Filming day—bring your created scene to life on camera.  

  Online Classes:  

  - Class 1: Scene review with feedback, and further application of the techniques learned in months 1-2.  

  - Class 2: Introduction to upcoming genres and techniques for the next months.  

  Actors' Gym: voice training, self-tape practice with feedback, and special workshops.

Months 4-6: Genre Exploration & Skill Refinement  

Work with guest tutors who specialize in different genres and techniques, including casting director sessions, producer seminars, and experience-based training with actors and directors.  

- Month 4:  

  - Friday: Deepen your Meisner training, refining your approach to the technique.  

  - Saturday: Explore naturalism and realism for film, working on developing authentic characters. Collaborate with a casting director in an audition format to really dig into the character's world.  

  - Sunday: Shoot scenes inspired by directors known for realism and naturalism, previous directors that ran this session are Charles Belleville (known for Jet trash and working with actors such as Tom Hardy, Asa Butterfield, Rob Sheehan, Sofia Boutella, Emelia Jones and many more) or Adam Morse, (lucid starring Billy Zane) or frank Harper (Guy Ritchies Lock stock and 2 smoking Barrels/ director of St Georges Day).

  Online Classes:  

  - Class 1: Analise your scenes and learn how to apply realism techniques effectively.  

  - Class 2: Prep for the upcoming month’s focus on voice work and comedy.  

  Actors' Gym: Participate in casting-focused challenges and attend Q&A sessions with industry casting directors.  

- Month 5:  

  - Friday: Focus on voice training with a seasoned coach known for working on productions like Vikings, Homeland, and Game of Thrones, teaching you how to utilize your voice effectively.  

  - Saturday: Shift to comedy, exploring the nuances of performing in this genre. Guest tutors include actors like Lydia Bewley (The Inbetweeners, Plebs), David Schaal (The Office, Inbetweeners, Ghosts), and Kevin McNally (Pirates of the Caribbean, Dad's Army, Fleabag).  

  - Sunday: Rehearse and film comedic scenes, applying what you've learned about the 

genre.  

  Online Classes:  

  - Class 1: Review and critique comedy scenes to understand what works.  

  - Class 2: Prep for dramatic performances, focusing on upcoming techniques.  

  Actors' Gym: Participate in voice classes, comedy exercises, scene study sessions, and Q&A discussions.  

- Month 6:  

  - Friday: Voice session focused on nailing American accents, with continuation online afterward.  

  - Saturday: Apply Michael Chekhov’s techniques, working on dramatic scenes using the psychological gesture approach. Guest tutors include directors such as Charles Belleville (Jet Trash, with experience working with Tom Hardy, Asa Butterfield, and Sofia Boutella).  Kevin McNally, Pirates of The Caribbean/ Downton abbey). 

  - Sunday: "Lights, camera, action" day—film the scenes you've been working on.  

  Online Classes:  

  - Class 1: Review accent applications within your scenes.  

  - Class 2: Prep for the business-focused training coming up next.  

  Actors' Gym: Voice workshops, self-tape feedback, and professional Q&A sessions.

Months 7-9: The Business of Acting & On-Camera Skills  

Build your industry knowledge, refine your skills, and prepare for real-world auditions. Our actors have often landed roles in TV, commercials, and films during this period.  

- Month 7:  

  - Friday: Learn the business of acting with insights from Alex Fidelski and the RS Talent team (including RS talent agents, who have previous experience working for top casting companies and PR companies) . Discover how to stand out, understand different industry roles, and gain tips from our agency's experiences.  

  - Saturday: Work on drama and soap scenes, understanding the differences between TV drama and film.  

  - Sunday: Film scenes with guest tutors like Debbie Howard (director on Coronation Street, Emmerdale) and Bill Ward (over 600 episodes on Coronation Street/Emmerdale).   Glen Wallace – Hollyoaks and Eastenders. 

  Online Classes:  

  - Class 1: Review drama techniques and tips from professionals.  

  - Class 2: Focus on audition preparation and casting strategies.  

  Actors’ Gym: Business discussions, casting-focused self-tape challenges, and professional tips.  

- Month 8:  

  - Friday: Participate in another mock casting session with a different casting director.  

  - Saturday: Deep dive into Stanislavski's methods, exploring given circumstances, actions, and objectives.  

  - Sunday: Naturalistic film scene shoot, working with directors like Adam Morse (Lucid Featuring Billy zane) 

  Online Classes:  

  - Class 1: Feedback on the casting session.  

  - Class 2: Prep for action-focused scenes in the next month.  

  Actors' Gym: Casting preparation, mock auditions, and scene critiques.  

- Month 9:  

  - Friday: Movement training with Robin Berry (Andy Serkis-trained actor), including arm extensions and firearm training for screen.  

  - Saturday: Practice an action sequence and choreograph movements for the camera.  

  - Sunday: Film scenes focusing on physical movement, incorporating the techniques learned.  

  Online Classes:  

  - Class 1: Review your movement scenes and refine your physical acting skills.  

  - Class 2: Filmmaking preparation, focusing on directing and production techniques.  

  Actors' Gym: voice classes and accent training, self-tape challenges, and scene study classes, Guest Q&A’s/ Seminars.

Months 10-12: Filmmaking & Final Showcase  

Prepare for filmmaking, from editing to pre-production, directing, and beyond. Create a graduate short film and experience the filmmaking process.  

- Month 10:  

  - Friday: Introduction to editing techniques for actors, including tips for creating a professional showreel.  

  - Saturday: Participate in a short filmmaking workshop, where you’ll create your own work—from concept to production.  

  - Sunday: Start working on your graduate professional short film, with guest tutor Lucas Young guiding you through the process.  

  Online Classes:  

  - Class 1: Review short film preparations and get feedback on your progress.  

  - Class 2: Learn techniques for directing and storytelling.  

  Actors' Gym: voice classes and accent training, self-tape challenges, and scene study classes, Guest Q&A’s/ Seminars.

- Month 11:  

 - Friday-Sunday: Focus on film rehearsals, character work, and pre-production discussions. Dive deep into the preparation needed for your short film, covering elements like blocking, read-throughs, costumes, and makeup.  

  Online Classes:  

  - Class 1: Review final film preparations and discuss rehearsal techniques.  

  - Class 2: Final performance tips and read through and film planning with the Film Director and 1st AD/ producer.

Month 12: Let’s Make a Movie!  

  - Friday-Sunday: LIGHTS CAMERA AND ACTION, the year has led to this moment! Film your short, on top industry equipment, and with industry professional crew that also work in the industry on big projects on sets like guy ritchies The Gentlemen, netflix, Disney,  films, commercials etc… and post production team (sound, composer and graders all work in these roles for a living) another way our actors get seen. As crew do recommend actors as well.

  We submit films to prestigious festivals, where they often receive awards. Experience the thrill of seeing your work on the big screen at screenings or festivals!  Have a look at our film reel, awards, posters and trailers of our shorts!

Final online 1-2-1 with the Reel Scene team, review of course, next steps and support with any questions, With the Reel Scene it is never goodbye but to work! We will see you regularly at our networking parties! At events, screenings and online in the actors gym, at casting director drop in sessions. We see our students from over 10 years ago!

End of Year – All graduates leave with showreel, headshots, short film credit, and film premiere attendance opportunity for representation and alumni can attend networking events, audition for projects (feature films) although we can't guarantee roles in future films we have landed multiple opportunities for many of our students.
