Steve North has worked as a professional actor since 1990, first gaining wide recognition for his portrayal of firefighter Colin Parrish in four series of the ITV drama London’s Burning. His screen career extends across British television and film, with roles in The Essex Serpent, Unforgotten, Closed Circuit, Hallo Joe, Mongrels, Doctor Who, EastEnders, Midsomer Murders, Casualty, Holby City, The Bill and other productions. He has also taken leading roles on stage, including in War Horse for the National Theatre’s global live broadcast and in acclaimed fringe and West End theatre work such as Meeting Joe Strummer and his solo show Fever Pitch. 

Beyond acting, North has built a parallel career as a filmmaker and creative writer. He co-wrote and produced the feature South West 9 and served as associate producer on The Football Factory. He directed the award-winning short film Cregan, which screened at festivals internationally, as well as other shorts and commissioned film sequences. His behind-the-camera work reflects a fluency with narrative structure and production, moving comfortably between acting and creative development. 

North’s skills encompass screen acting across genres, stage performance with both ensemble and solo demands, and creative leadership in writing and directing. He extends his expertise into education as a highly experienced lecturer in screen acting and devising, heading the MA/MFA Acting with Digital Media program at East 15 Acting School and running practical workshops that train actors in performance and content creation. This combination of sustained professional practice and pedagogical engagement marks him as a multifaceted practitioner in contemporary British performance and media.
