Reel Scene alumni lead in the feature film “Trapped”

Trapped, the new feature film written and directed by Roland Manookian, has marked a powerful milestone for several Reel Scene alumni whose work features prominently both in front of the camera and behind the scenes. The film tells the story of Raye, a woman fighting to escape an abusive relationship, pulling its audience into a raw, unsettling and deeply human journey. Four Reel Scene alumni — Josh Witcher, Aimee Hills, Charlotte Ferryman, and Shane McCormick — have made exceptional contributions to the project, demonstrating how Reel Scene actors are moving confidently into major industry roles across writing, producing and performance. Their presence in the film highlights the school’s growing legacy of developing actors capable of contributing meaningfully at a professional level, both creatively and structurally within the industry.

Trapped shines a light on the immensely damaging cycle of violent domestic abuse, and the journey Raye takes to find her identity. We hope the film helps victims of abuse on their road of recovery.

Among them, Josh Witcher not only stars in the film, but also co-wrote the story alongside Roland Manookian and Tom Gordon. The project was further developed from an original idea by Josh, making his role central to the film’s conception and thematic core. Shane McCormick not only appears in a leading role but also produced the film through his new production company, Move Mountains Production, helping carry the project from initial development through to completion and festival launch. Their collaboration marks a significant achievement in independent British filmmaking, and represents the kind of creative authorship that Reel Scene has always encouraged among its graduates.

The film also features breakout performances from Reel Scene graduates Aimee Hills and Charlotte Ferryman, both taking on complex roles within a large, seasoned ensemble. They appear alongside an exceptional cast including Gina Jones, Craig Fairbrass, Geoff Bell, Simon Manyonda, Kadeem Ramsay, Eddie Webber and Kevin McNally — actors well known for acclaimed roles across The Business, Top Boy, Nil By Mouth, The Witches, Green Street, Villain, and Rise of the Footsoldier. Their inclusion in a film of this calibre reflects the ambition, skill and professional development of Reel Scene alumni, stepping into the industry with legitimacy and confidence.
